Local Buses enable you to get around downtown Hachimantai near Obuke Station,  the traditional hot spring area “Matsukawa” and even the peak of Mount Hachimantai.

Local Buses change their routes depending on the season.

Local buses run from spring to autumn,  starting their extended line to the Hachimantai Peak in mid-April. This helps you a lot to enjoy quite of few exciting things such as the Hachimantai Dragon Eye, cherry blossoms and the snow corridor in spring, cycling and hiking in summer, and colorful mountains in autumn.

During the winter, local buses take you to three tourist spots – two ski resorts in Hachimantai and one hot springs area in Matsukawa.
Hachimantai Ski Resort, which is very popular among powder lovers who prefer deep powder and ungroomed course options with fewer international skiers. Staying at the new Hachimantai Mountain Hotel and skiing there will give you a great location for excellent access to the nightlife in Obuke.
Appi Kogen Ski Resort is very famous and known worldwide.
The Matsukawa Hot Springs area gives you a totally different atmosphere. White snow surrounds you, covering beautiful rocks and trees. It feels as if some deer or monkeys might suddenly appear out of the trees near the outdoor bath.  Fewer people come to bathe compared to during the summer, and in the winter the hot springs can offer you soothing quiet moments. In this hot springs area, you will enjoy the two main hot springs,  Matsukawa Hot Springs and Hachimantai Onsenkyo.
