Yakehashiri Lava Flow

First spewed out in the 1700s, the Yakehashiri Lava Flow stretches 4 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide across Mount Iwate’s northeastern foot.  Even now, plant life does not grow at all there, and the terrain remains the same as it was hundreds of years ago, making it a natural monument.
