As the name suggests, La mia mamma is a restaurant in the middle of a forest serves the heartwarming flavor of “mom’s” cooking.
La mia mamma was started by a local couple, (“mamma” of course refers to the woman) right at the foot of Mt. Iwate. Guests can enjoy forest bathing and homemade Italian food using healthy local ingredients. We recommend the tripe, a common stewed dish in Italy. Tripe is actually made from the stomach of a cow, and called hachinosu in Japanese. The homemade tomato sauce goes perfectly with the tripe. The mushroom cream risotto made with Appi maitake mushrooms is another dish that you won’t want to miss. The aroma and flavor of the mushrooms are outstanding, and it’s served piping hot!
Feel the forest and the ever-changing sunshine through the trees, and enjoy the bounty of nature of Hachimantai with Mamma’s homemade Italian cuisine.
