Created each year through precise snow-plowing, the Hachimantai Snow Corridor can be found along the roads connecting Iwate and Akita. It’s known as the “Yuki no Kairo” in Japanese, and you need only see it once to understand where the name comes from!
Its pure walls of snow run for 27km, and have in some years reached as high as 8 meters tall! Passing through the Snow Corridor to view cherry blossoms at the foot of Mt. Hachimantai is quickly becoming a popular way to say “goodbye” to winter and “hello” to spring!
