Iwate Prefectural Citizens’ Forest, this large forest park area is at the north edge of Mt. Iwate, and home to mammals such as Asian black bears, Japanese serows and also about 200 types of wild birds .
The entry to this park is lined with an impressive rows of white birch trees. It’s home to a forest of Russian rock birch and beech trees, a forestry museum, a woodcraft center where visitors can try handcrafting activities, and a campground with a cooking area and wooden deck, making it easy to learn about and experience the natural beauty of Iwate. There are also various events held throughout the year including bird watching and other nature observation activities.
There are three walking trails through the parks with lengths of 1.4 km, 1.6 km, and 2.8 km respectively. There’s a hidden spot with beautiful hydrangeas as well as a great trail for snowshoeing.
Whether you’re traveling alone, with friends, family, or a significant other, you’ll find something to love in this beautiful park with a spectacular view of Mt. Iwate.
