Natural surroundings and exquisite powder snow
The beautiful powder snow in Japan is attracting attention from all over the world.
The ideal powder snow at the snow resorts in Hachimantai is becoming famous throughout the world. The winter wind currents, which contain a lot of water vapor from the Sea of Japan, create snow clouds and move eastward, causing heavy wet snow to fall on the plains and mountains on the Sea of Japan side. After that, the snow clouds rising along the Ou Mountain Range become supercooled water droplets that do not freeze even at low temperatures. Then, the Maries’ fir trees growing near the summit of Mt. Hachimantai are coated in a layer of snow and ice from the strong wind, and form the largest area of snow monsters in Japan. These are the Hachimantai Snow Monsters. These snow clouds that formed the snow monsters then go farther east to the Hachimantai ski area, where they bring abundant dry powder snow. That’s why this area has some of the best powder snow in all of Japan.
